WASHINGTON, Ill. – A restaurant and craft brewery will set up shop in Washington’s square by the end of next year.
It has some locations in the Midwest already and the Chief Marketing Officer for The Grist Mill’s parent company CL Enterprises, Matt Scholes, says the company has been successful by targeting smaller locales like Washington.
“(The owners of CL Enterprises) see a lot of potential in small towns. They see a lot of potential in the people of small towns,” said Scholes. “They recognize it can be difficult for these towns to get the kind of investment and support that the big cities get.”
Scholes says the family that founded CL Enterprises is from Ottawa, and the company is based in LaSalle-Peru.
“It just felt like this was a town with a lot of ambition,” said Scholes. “Leaders of the town really wanted to see good things happen, and had a vision for the town. If we could contribute to that, that’s great.”
Tangled Roots Brewery’s own craft brews with their own farm-grown ingredients will be featured, as will a food menu containing both brewpub-type food and unique items.
It should open by the end of next year, and is being partially funded with $1.1 million in city money.
