PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man is facing several charges, including a Hate Crime, after allegedly hitting a pedestrian with his car earlier in the week.
Peoria Police say it happened August 22 on Northeast Adams Street in the North Valley.
The male victim police did not otherwise identify told investigators the driver, after striking him with a car, got out and attacked him, then fled. Injuries were reported to be not life threatening.
Police say they found Jaylan Appleberry, 27, driving the car Tuesday near John Gwynn and Richard Pryor, and arrested him.
In addition to a Hate Crime, Appleberry faces charges of Aggravated Battery and Armed Robbery. He’s in jail pending court appearances.
