PEORIA, Ill. – A federal lawsuit has been filed against Rivian Automotive, accusing the electric vehicle maker of sexual harassment at its Normal plant.
The suit, filed Tuesday in Peoria federal court, indicates the employee, who worked at the plant between last December and this past June as a battery team member, was subjected to unwanted sexual advances by at least four other employees, along with derogatory comments, and sexually-based questions.
One employee in April allegedly grabbed the employees work badge and groped her, while another at a different point in time sexually assaulted her.
She claims she used sick leave and paid time off to try and cope with the alleged harassment.
The plaintiff claims Rivian violated the state’s Human Rights Act, and didn’t do much to stop the harassment.
“At Rivian, we expect all our employees to treat each other with dignity and respect and do not tolerate harassment or discrimination of any kind. Rivian does not comment on active litigation,” said a spokesperson for Rivian.
