PEORIA, Ill. — A tech start up group, perhaps hopes to sway local elected leaders as they consider a major brokerage deal designed to streamline the inclusion of tech-start up business in Peoria.
A group called Distillery Labs, formerly known as Peoria Innovation Hub, is inviting members of the Peoria City Council to attend a so-called “entrepreneurial ecosystem event”, a showcase designed to shed more light on their initiative.
City leaders, stakeholders and local business leaders are expected to meet at the Scottish Rite Theater next Wednesday, September 21st.
A notice from the City of Peoria states that a quorum of City Council members has been invited to attend.
Earlier this week, council punted on a binding brokerage deal aimed at helping Distillery Labs achieve it goals.
They want to remove red tape from the Peoria “Smart City” tech start up process.
Some select city council members are urging caution and a more well rounded knowledge base about the subject matter and parties involved before a decision is made on the brokerage agreement.
