SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – “A strong labor market throughout the state.”
That’s what Illinois Deputy Governor Andy Manar says after the latest state unemployment data that came out out Thursday.
The statewide jobless average for August — not seasonally adjusted — sat at 4.8 percent, down 1.3 percentage points from the same period a year ago.
In Peoria, the rate was almost the same, dropping one percentage point from the year before, to 4.9 percent.
The state says 3,700 jobs were added year over year in the Peoria metro area.

Decatur: 6.5% -1.2
Elgin: 4.7% -0.9

Rockford: 6.8% -1.0
Springfield: 4.3% -1.1
