DAVOS, Switzerland โ Illinois Governor JB Pritzker is once again on a world stage โ this time as a guest of the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.
Pritzker says one of the ways the state is being good to the rest of the world is trying to be more environmentally-friendly.
โWeโre fortunate in many ways โ in Illinois, we have about 52 percent of our energy production is nuclear. We have the largest nuclear fleet in the United States,โ said Pritzker. โThatโs a great base, anyway, as weโre moving toward, and we have established by 2045, we will be carbon free.โ
Pritzker says jobs are being created in that sector as well.
Pritzker was asked about the American economy and the threat of recession. He says it may take awhile before the country declines to two percent inflation based on a Federal Reserve goal, but heโs optimistic.
โI donโt know whether weโll get to a recession. Iโm certainly hoping not, although we have to plan properly for that,โ said Pritzker. โMy expectation is that it will not be a deep recession if there is one.โ
Pritzker, invited there to talk about a number of Illinois accomplishments, brought up ones like protecting reproductive rights and the stateโs new assault weapons ban, even though the ban now has two state lawsuits and one federal suit filed against it.
