ASHVILLE, NC (Fox News) — After six years of wondering whether his daughter was dead or alive, a father’s worst nightmare is over.
Kayla Unbehaun, now 15, has been found safe after officials say her non-custodial mother kidnapped her from South Elgin, Illinois and hid her in North Carolina.
Miraculously, police found her after a store clerk recognized Kayla from a Netflix documentary, Unsolved Mysteries, that showed a digital age-progression photo of her for just five seconds.
Kayla’s mother is now charged with child abduction and is being held on a $250,000 bond as she awaits extradition, according to WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina.
