PEORIA, Ill. – The teenager accused in the death of Tony Collier has been given an additional charge.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney Office says the 14-year-old received one count of Second Degree Murder on Friday.
The teenager was also released from custody, despite an objection from a prosecutor. The State’s Attorney’s Office filed a motion to reconsider the ruling.
The incident occurred on May 10th, when there was a reported altercation between the teenager and Collier. The teen allegedly picked up a block of concrete and threw it twice, striking Collier in the head the second time.
Collier died early Monday at a hospital. An autopsy showed the 50-year-old died of severe blunt force head trauma.
