PEORIA, Ill. – A man shot Thursday night on the city’s south side is expected to live.
A ShotSpotter alert around 8:25 p.m. indicated 17 rounds fired on W. Wiswall, near W. Ann Streets. Police found more than 20 shell casings in the area.
It’s believed a pistol was used, but it’s not clear how many shooters were involved.
The victim was conscious and talking at the scene.
Chief Echevarria tells 25 News this shooting is an example of a disregard for human life. He noted that a child was nearby when it happened.
PPD has no suspects at this time. An investigation continues.
