PEKIN, Ill. – A Pekin man will likely be in prison for the rest of his life after killing a woman and setting her on fire two years ago.
Matthew Null, 41, was sentenced in Tazewell County Court Thursday to 90 years in prison – 60 for being convicted on a First Degree Murder charge, and another 30 for Aggravated Arson.
Kailey Windish, 31, was strangled to death before Null set her Pekin home on fire in April of 2021.
25 News reports State’s Attorney Kevin Johnson believes Null “got what he deserved” for the crime, calling Null depraved, even though a motive still isn’t clear.
Null also allegedly stole items from the home, and used Windish’s father’s credit card.
