Update: 4:17 a.m. 7/3
COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – Ameren is continuing to try and get the lights back on following Thursday’s “derecho” that moved through the state.
The Ameren Illinois Outage Map shows 28,600 customers still without electricity as of Monday morning. Of those, just over 170 in the Peoria area.
225,000 customers have been in the dark at various times since Thursday.
It’s not been easy, given what the utility says is “three days of relentless, powerful weather events” affecting how much can be done.
Ameren says 2,800 workers from ten states are helping to get the lights back on, and more than 1,000 power poles have been damaged or destroyed.
