PEORIA, Ill. – A country music legend is one of two performances being announced Monday by the Peoria Civic Center.
Dwight Yoakam will perform in the Peoria Civic Center Theater November 3rd, with tickets going on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. at the box office or online.
“Dwight Yoakam has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, and he is a 21-time nominated, multiple GRAMMY Award winner,” said the Civic Center, in a news release. “He has 12 gold albums and 9 platinum or multi-platinum albums, with five of those albums topping Billboard’s Country Albums chart and another 14 landing in the Top 10. Nearly 40 of Yoakam’s singles have charted on Billboard, with 14 peaking in the Top 10. Yoakam is a recipient of the Artist of the Year award from the Americana Music Association, the most prestigious award offered by the organization, he will be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in the Songwriter/Artist category at the 49th anniversary Gala on October 14, 2019 in Nashville, TN.”
The Civic Center says tickets also go on sale this Friday for the national touring production of “Menopause: The Musical,” which also will be in the theater November 5.
“Now celebrating over 20 years of female empowerment through hilarious musical comedy, Menopause The Musical® has evolved as a “grassroots” movement of women who deal with life adjustments after 40 by embracing each other and the road ahead,” said the Civic Center, in a separate news release. “Set in a department store, four women meet while shopping for a black lace bra at a lingerie sale. After noticing similarities among one another, the cast jokes about their woeful hot flashes, mood swings, wrinkles, weight gain and much more. These women form a sisterhood and unique bond with the entire audience as they rejoice in celebrating that menopause is no longer ‘The Silent Passage.'”
That production is now in its 21st year in Las Vegas.
