PEORIA, Ill. – A name change could soon be coming to the Peoria Civic Center.
The Peoria Civic Center Authority announced on Wednesday a request for proposal for the exclusive naming rights to the facility.
The Civic Center’s Beau Sutherland says the timing was right to seek out a naming rights deal.
“We’re stronger, seeing more attendance and more patrons through our facility, even topping our pre-COVID numbers. So, we felt like we were positioned to move forward with actively trying to secure a naming rights partnership,” Sutherland said.
The request seeks a 10-year deal that is worth at least $500,000 annually. The deal would include the naming rights, interior and exterior signage, promotion materials, and more.
Sutherland says money raised from the deal would go to the Civic Center’s operating fund.
He notes the partner in the deal will see more than 100 million impressions per year that includes interior and exterior signage, and promotional materials.
In a statement, Peoria Civic Center Authority Chairperson Yvonne Greer Batton said, “the PCC is experiencing incredible momentum in terms of its premier events and entertainment, capital improvements, industry recognition, and regional patronage. This momentum would undoubtedly enhance a corporate brand, draw state/national attention, and allow both entities to be of greater service across the Peoria community at large.”
The timeline to have a naming rights deal is expected to take up to a year.
The Civic Center will undergo $40 million in improvements in the next two years that include a new ice plant and video scoreboard. $25 million in grants along with $20.5 million from the city of Peoria are going to help fund the work.
