HOOVER, Ala. – A woman reported missing after checking on a toddler found on the side of an Alabama road has been found.
Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell, 25, was reported safe around 10:45 p.m. Saturday after returning to the home she shares with her parents in Hoover, near Birmingham, police said, according to FOX News.
While police say Russell returned safe, her boyfriend posted to social media that she’s fighting for her life.
“I have been going nonstop since I received the call that she was missing on Thursday night,” Thomar Latrell Simmons wrote on Facebook. “I know she would’ve done the same for me, so I wasn’t going to give up until I saw her face again!
“[She was] fighting for her life for 48 hours, so until she’s physically and mentally stable again she is not able to give any updates or whereabouts on her kidnapper at this very moment,” said Simmons.
Russell reportedly called 911 around 10:45 p.m. Thursday, when she saw a young child walking along the side of Interstate 459 near Birmingham. She then disappeared
Talitha Russell, Carlee’s mother, told AL.com she was on the phone with her brother’s girlfriend at the time, when she was heard to say ‘Are you OK?’ Taliha Russell said the child said nothing but the family member could hear Carlee scream, then background noise.
Police found Carlee’s car and cell phone, but did not find her or any missing child.
She was taken to a Birmingham hospital for an evaluation once she returned home, but has since been released.
