OAK BROOK, Ill. – Authorities in DuPage County say a Peoria woman was one of three people arrested after an alleged theft from a local mall turned into a high speed chase.
Oak Brook Police and the DuPage County State’s Attorney say Chrischauna Smith, 22, faces a charge of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding and is jailed on $100,000 bond.
Smith allegedly led police on the chase Saturday after two people in her car – one of whom was a juvenile – allegedly tried to steal nearly $400 worth of perfume from a Nordstrom store.
Authorities noticed the two got into Smith’s car, the vehicle made an illegal U-turn, and fled.
Authorities say the chase – on Interstate 294 – reached speeds of 115 miles per hour, and ended when the car struck a squad car and both went off the road.
The other two are also jailed on theft and other charges.
No one was hurt.
