ST. ANTHONY, Id. – An Idaho mother has been sentenced to five life terms in prison for the deaths of two of her children and her husband’s previous wife.
A judge Monday sentenced Lori Vallow Daybell – dubbed the “cult mom” in stories on FoxNews.com and elsewhere – after a jury in May found Vallow, 50, guilty of two counts of first degree murder, and a count of conspiring to commit murder, among other charges.
“You removed your children from their home in Arizona, alienated them from friends and family … and you brought them here to murder them. You had so many other options. … You chose the most evil and destructive path possible,” Judge Steven Boyce said Monday, according to Fox News. “I don’t think to this day you have any remorse for the effort and heartache you caused.”
Boyce called Vallow’s crimes “heinous and egregious.”
J.J. Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryah, 16, were killed in 2019, discovered after the two disappeared. Tammy Daybell, Chad Daybell’s first wife, was killed in October of that year. Their bodies were found in June, 2020.
Fox News reports Vallow has been diagnosed with “delusional disorder” mixed with “hyper-religosity” coupled with “continuous and unspecified personal disorder” and narcissistic features.
Vallow claimed during her sentencing hearing that she could talk to the children and Tammy Daybell through the use of spirits.
Chad Daybell is still awaiting trial on similar charges.
