PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man is going to federal prison for a little more than four years after he allegedly was caught with a modified gun earlier this year.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says a federal judge gave Anthony Johnson, 19, 50 months in prison for Possession of a Handgun Outfitted with a Conversion Device.
Prosecutors say Johnson pulled a gun from his waistband during a confrontation on North Flora Avenue back in January, firing it when someone else got away.
The shots caused damage to a nearby van, and it was learned that the gun was a handgun modified with a switch to act as if it were fully automatic.
Johnson allegedly also had other weapons in his possession.
He could have faced up to 10 years in prison.
