PEORIA, Ill. – A third rabid bat has been found in Peoria County.
Due to the potential risk of exposure to rabies, Peoria County Animal Protection Services and the Peoria County/City Health Department are advising residents to avoid contact with bats if you discover them in your home.
If you have been exposed to bats, report it immediately to PCAPS and the Health Department, to assess the potential need for treatment for rabies.
If you find a dead bat in your home, call PCAPS for instructions.
