PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria’s 17th homicide of the year, and second of the day, occurred Saturday evening in South Peoria.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says they and Peoria Police responded to Laramie Liquors at around 9:09 P.M. on reports of a male that had been shot down in the parking lot.
Officers arrived to find an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Mason Loy, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Loy’s last known address was in Havana, and Harwood says an autopsy will be held Monday.
Earlier Saturday, Peoria Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert of 15 rounds fired and found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
