WASHINGTON, D.C. – A nationwide ground stop of United Airlines planes was in effect for around 15 minutes Tuesday afternoon.
The Federal Aviation Administration in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, confirmed that United asked for the ground stop at around 12:35 P.M. The ground stop was lifted at around 12:50 P.M.
United, also making a post on X, says it was a systemwide technology issue, and held all departing flights at their airports. Flights that were in the air were allowed to continue to their destinations.
In a separate post, United says the issue was fixed, and was working with affected customers to help them get to their destinations.
Update: @united has lifted the ground stop for the U.S. and Canada.
