NORMAL, Ill. – Freshmen enrollment at Illinois State University in Normal is at its highest level in decades.
The university released enrollment numbers for the Fall 2023 semester Thursday. This year’s student body includes 4,147 freshmen, the highest total in 36 years. That’s also a 4% increase from last year.
The total number of students this year is 20,989, a 1.5% increase from the previous year.
Those numbers include 2,539 graduate students, 741 international students, and 1,814 students transferring in to Illinois State.
The university says enrollment numbers are calculated after the 10th day of classes.
