State Police investigating death of Peoria County Jail inmate, officer treated

PEORIA, Ill. – Not many details are known, but Illinois State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Peoria County Jail.

Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins tells 25 News prior to the death, an officer suffered a medical event while performing CPR on the inmate.

The officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

No details on the death of the inmate have been released.
