PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police say they’ve arrested a 14-year-old boy for allegedly killing another teenager several weeks ago.
Police say the boy was spotted walking near Perry and Hancock Streets Monday night and was arrested.
Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos says the teen now faces three counts of First-Degree Murder.
The boy’s name cannot be released unless he ends up being tried as an adult, and Hoos says because the suspect is under 16, she has to petition the court to transfer the case to adult court.
A hearing on that is scheduled for October 5th.
“The actions displayed by this defendant are not the actions of a juvenile,” said Hoos, in a news release. “He shot this person multiple times, execution-style, in broad daylight for all the world to see. Those are the actions of a cold-blooded adult killer, & that’s exactly how my office will treat him.”
Hoos says four rounds were fired August 22nd near Kansas and Wisconsin, and they claimed the life of 17-year-old Dahvie Brown-Bay. Three of those rounds were at point blank range.
The death was the city’s 14th homicide reported this year.
