PEORIA, Ill. – A Norwood man has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of setting two homes on fire there a month ago.
A grand jury Tuesday charged Troy Smith, 34, with two Class-X felony counts of Aggravated Arson. Wednesday, Smith was arraigned.
Smith was arrested in mid-August, and at the time Peoria County Sheriffs Deputies said Smith confessed to setting the fires on West Lamoine in Norwood.
One August 17th allegedly involved a molotov cocktail being used, another a few days later was able to be put out with a garden hose.
Smith’s reported address in Norwood is in the same block as the two house he allegedly tried to set on fire.
Smith remains jailed on $20,000 bond, and a trial is tentatively scheduled for November 6.
