PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man is the first of three people charged with the murder of a Manual High School student two years ago, to be convicted.
Court records indicate a jury Wednesday found Jeremy Moore, Jr., now 20, guilty of First-Degree Murder in the shooting death in October, 2021 of Jerry Snipes, Jr., 17, near Linn Street and Corrington Avenue.
State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos’ office claims Moore and Gary Irby, 21, were the triggermen – one allegedly using a handgun, one allegedly using a shotgun, both accused of firing ten times mostly into Snipes’ back – while Tyranique White, 19, faces counts of First-Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery.
Irby and White are both scheduled for trial in November, but Irby likely will be tried first.
Moore will be sentenced November 3. He could face a life sentence.
