PEORIA, Ill. – One local official and one state lawmaker are among those expressing at least some concern about a proposed carbon dioxide collection pipeline that may go through parts of the area.
Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos says she is filing with the Illinois Commerce Commission a petition to intervene in the request for approval of the plan by Wolf Carbon Solutions.
Hoos says only those who file petitions to intervene will be allowed input on the matter.
This, as Morton State Representative Bill Hauter says in a latter he remains skeptical the pipeline will actually do anything to help solve climate change and has concerns about Wolf having flexibility to use eminent domain to build the line, even though they claim they have but likely won’t use it.
The Tazewell County Board is expected to see a demonstration from those opposed to the project as they meet Wednesday night. The Peoria County Board’s Land Use Committee heard about the project, reportedly, earlier in the week.
“The proposed pipeline impacts all parts of Peoria County – our citizens, our infrastructure, and our public safety. I filed to make certain we have a voice on what that impact will be.” Jodi Hoos, Peoria County State’s Attorney, statement
