PEORIA, Ill. – A big water main break in downtown Peoria.
Illinois American Water says the break occurred prior to 2:30 Wednesday afternoon – opening up a big hole near Adams and Liberty Streets.
Officials with the utility say they hope to repair the break as soon as possible, and then repair the road as soon as possible after that.
Traffic is being rerouted around the area. As of Thursday morning, NE Adams (one-way) Street is down to one left lane at Liberty Street. Liberty is blocked in both directions at Adams.
