PEORIA, Ill. – Central Illinois gas prices are continuing to fall.
GasBuddy reports the average price for unleaded in the Peoria area is $3.65/g. The average is 6.8 cents lower than last week, 17.8 cents lower than a month ago, and 66.6 cents lower than a year ago.
The survey lists the cheapest price in the area at $3.29/g, with the most expensive at $3.99/g.
AAA is reporting an average price of $3.65/g, a drop of 9.8 cents in the past week. The amount is 21.1 cents lower than one month ago, and 65.9 cents lower than one year ago.
Both surveys report sharp drops in the average price of gas in Illinois. GasBuddy reports an average of $3.65/g, down 11.7 cents from last week. AAA’s average is $3.68/g, a decrease of 11.3 cents in the past week.
Analysts believe the decrease in prices is a trend that will continue, but could be halted with the recent attacks in Israel as a potential factor, according to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan.
“I’m hopeful the violence won’t spread, limiting the impact to these falling gas prices. Even with oil prices rising as a reaction to the attacks, I remain optimistic the national average could decline another 25-45 cents by late November, with prices falling potentially nearly triple that in California,” De Haan said.
