PEORIA, Ill. – Arson appears to be the cause of a fire in Peoria early Friday morning.
Fire Battalion Chief Scott Strum says crews responded to reports of a garage on fire on S. Charles Street just before 4:20 a.m., finding it fully engulfed in flames and the roof collapsed.
No one was inside the unattached garage, and the home near it was vacant.
A demolition crew was called to the scene to remove the debris from the fire.
No firefighters injuries were reported.
Damage to the garage is estimated at $8,000.
