MAUI, Hi. – Maui Police are releasing body cam footage of the deadly Lahaina wildfires that left nearly 100 dead and thousands of buildings destroyed over the summer.
Fox News says the videos show officers evacuating Maui residents as smoke filled the air.
Hawaiian Electric acknowledged a downed power line caused the initial fire in Lahaina, but said they shouldn’t be responsible for the later flare-up because their lines had been turned off by then.
Last June, Hawaiian Electric filed for regulators to approve millions in funding that would have replaced 80 electrical poles on Maui.
