PEORIA, Ill. – The man accused of making three separate bomb threats to the Pere Marquette Hotel in downtown Peoria – one of them while parents and children were staying there for a music education conference – has pleaded guilty.
Court records indicate Val Burks, 31, of Creve Coeur pleaded guilty Monday to one count of Falsely Making a Terrorist Threat – and had two other counts dismissed.
Burks was sentenced to four years in prison with credit for time served in jail, followed by one year of parole.
Burks was arrested in February, weeks after the first of three threats was made by using an internet-based text messaging service.
