TRIVOLI, Ill. – An exploding water heater is to blame for a fire that caused extensive damage to a local home.
Officials say the fire was first reported fire prior to 4:30 P.M. Tuesday on West Todd School Road.
According to Timber Hollis Deputy Fire Chief Eric Lundberg, three people were in the house at the time of the fire. Two people suffered extreme burns, while the third suffered chest pain, and all are being taken to the hospital.
Lundberg says the home suffered “a lot” of damage and could be a total loss. The explosion caused bricks to be blown off the back of the home. He says he’s never seen anything like it in 25 years.
Faulty equipment may be to blame, says Lundberg.
