WASHINGTON, Ill. – What could arguably be considered a legendary high school football coaching career is officially over.
Despite home field advantage, the Washington Panthers lost to defending Class 6A champion, the East Saint Louis Flyers Saturday 34-18, giving them another trip to state this coming weekend in Normal.
Washington Head Coach Darrell Crouch said he would retire at the end of the season.
Crouch leaves with an overall 143-53 record, the winningest record in Washington history. According to 25 Sports, Crouch’s teams had fifteen consecutive playoff appearances, three trips to the state semifinals and seven seasons with ten or more wins.
