PEORIA, Ill. – Average gas prices in Peoria were unchanged in the past week, averaging $3.41 a gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of local gas stations.
Prices in Peoria are 11.6 a gallon lower than last month and 53.7 cents a gallon lower than a year ago.
The cheapest gas in Peoria, according to GasBuddy reports, was $3.09 on Sunday and the most expensive was $3.99. Illinois’ lowest price on Sunday was $2.77 a gallon, while the highest price was $4.99 a gallon.
The national average price of unleaded gas has fallen 6.2 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.27 a gallon on Monday. That’s down nearly 26 cents from a month ago and nearly 37 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data.
“As millions of Americans gear up to hit the road for Thanksgiving, the national average is seeing its longest streak of declines in over a year, reaching a ninth straight week as gas prices fall to their lowest since January,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “GasBuddy now counts over 65,000 stations with a price of $2.99 per gallon or lower, while 11 states are seeing average prices below $3. In addition, we could see five more states join the sub-$3 club by Thanksgiving. The fall in gas prices, largely seasonal due to weakening gasoline demand, could extend for another week or two, leading to potentially the lowest gas prices since 2021 by Christmas.”
Meanwhile, AAA Illinois says the average price of regular unleaded gas in the Peoria-Pekin metro area was $3.41 on Monday, the average price across Illinois was $3.48, and the national average price was $3.30 a gallon.
