PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man is accused of having what a grand jury indictment says was an illegal machine gun, and of trying to flee from police.
The grand jury is charging 19-year-old Jyquan Allen with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding.
The indictment says Allen had the machine gun in the passenger seat of a vehicle October 20th – one that allegedly fled from a Peoria Police Officer trying to stop it.
Allen – who was arrested earlier in the year on an ammunition-related charge but released – now remains in jail, and will be arraigned next Thursday.
A number of traffic-related offenses Allen was also arrested on, were not formally filed by the Peoria County State’s Attorney.
