PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man faces a host of weapons and other charges, including Armed Violence, after a traffic stop on N. Bigelow.
Around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, Peoria Police conducted a traffic stop for a code violation, developing probable cause to remove the driver from the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle found a loaded handgun with an extended magazine, illegal drugs and a large amount of cash.
The driver, 24-year-old Richard Sellers III, was taken to the Peoria Police Department for questioning, then arrested for Armed Violence, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, and several traffic violations.
Following his arrest, Sellers was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
