PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (FOX News) – Police in Philadelphia have arrested a suspect in a deadly stabbing Monday morning at a Macy’s store.
FOX News reports a man attempted to steal some hats and got into a confrontation with security guards at the store, where the guards retrieved the merchandise. The suspect is accused of returning to the store, stabbing two of them.
One of the security guards died and the other is being treated for injuries.
The suspect then reportedly boarded a train, and was arrested at the Somerset Station by SEPTA police.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner John Stafford both security guards were in their 20s, and one had only been working at the Macy’s for a few months. He says both were hired by Macy’s, and not armed.
The store is located across the street from City Hall and has seen increased levels of thefts this year. The store is currently closed. Macy’s did not immediately comment.
