PEORIA, Ill. – We think we can probably speak for most of our coworkers at Midwest Communications in Peoria when we say we don’t want this to happen.
But, while he admits it’s hard to wrap his head around, Randy Rundle does wants this to happen.
The longtime morning host among other duties as assigned at Mix 106.9 is retiring December 29th.
“I just want to thank my family for putting up with this business, and putting up with me spending 50, 60, and 70 hours a week here at the radio station, sometimes six days a week,” said Rundle, on Mix 106.9 Friday morning. “Phone rings at three in the morning, it’s my problem-kind-of-thing.”
Rundle’s co-host, longtime media personality and OSF HealthCare spokesperson Shelli Dankoff also will be departing the station, but not her day job. All that gives way to a new morning show after the first of the year to be hosted by Bill Fox, who’s currently on 104.9 The Wolf.
“It’s been an incredible ride,” said Rundle. “I also want to thank all of our great listeners. The listeners are things that we all know in this business that keep us doing the business. The listeners are the people that make this job something that we want to do. And it’s much more than a job.”
Rundle has been on WSWT for 36 years, and has been in broadcasting for more than a half-a century.
