PEORIA, Ill. – Some area residents who use Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois’ HMO plan are getting some changes at the start of the new year.
According to a letter an HMO user sent to WMBD News last week, Carle Health is not part of BCBS’ HMO plan as of January First, and that coverage will instead be moved to OSF HealthCare.
The user in question wrote a letter of dissatisfaction to Carle, and a response included a suggestion to move to Blue Cross’ PPO plan instead, which will remain covered.
A Carle Health spokesperson tells WMBD by e-mail it was Carle’s decision to end the HMO relationship.
“We continuously evaluate our relationships with contracted insurance providers to ensure adequate access for the communities and offer value-rich contracts that allow us to offer world-class care close to home,” said Lisa Slater, Sr. Communications Partner. “We are working to limit patients’ disruption to care and access to the providers they trust.”
The Blue Cross Blue Shield notice of change went out in September.
Other BCBS products are still covered at Carle Health Greater Peoria facilities.
