GALESBURG, Ill. – Peoria Police’s bomb squad helped a bomb threat in Galesburg result in an all-clear.
Galesburg Police Chief Russ Idle says the bomb threat was reported to one of the city’s two Hy-Vee grocery stores Monday.
The store – just off North Henderson Street – was evacuated as a precaution.
The Peoria and Secretary of State Bomb Squads helped Galesburg and Knox County authorities investigate, and Idle says it was nothing but duct tape and some wires on a pallet of grapes.
Idle says the threat was a hoax, but it was “a serious crime that caused significant disruption to the store as well as public safety resources.”
An investigation continues. No one was hurt.
