PEORIA, Ill. – The first winter storm of the season will come to central Illinois Monday night, and it may not be the only system this week.
25 News First Alert Meteorologist Chuck Collins tells WMBD’s “Craig Collins Show” what to expect from the weather until Wednesday morning.
“We’ll come in with about two to three, two to four inches of snow overnight and in the morning. And then in the morning, it’s going to mix with rain, so that’ll cut the snow off and maybe melt a little bit of the snow. But then the snow will get back in here on the colder side of the system tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening,” Collins said.
Collins says the Peoria metro area is expected to get up to six inches of snow when it’s all said and done.
He says the tail end of the storm on Tuesday afternoon and evening will have some concerns with wind gusts reaching 40 MPH.
“So there might be some visibility problems tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening drive time on the back side of this thing before it exits on Wednesday,” Collins said.
Collins says once the system exits the area, Wednesday and Thursday should have clear weather. But adds another system with accumulating snow is expected on Friday with frigid temperatures.
