TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill – Though much of Peoria County woke up to snow Tuesday morning, Tazewell County for the most part has had mostly liquid precipitation in the first snowstorm of the year.
Engineer Dan Parr, with the Tazewell County Highway Department, says their crews have salted and plowed what snow they have seen.
“Most of our roads are clear, and we’re clearing and removing the snow off them now…any sort of remnants from last night, in preparation for lower temperatures and potentially more precipitation Tuesday night,” Parr says.
Tazewell County Highway crews are busy getting the trucks for the next round of the storm.
“As of right now, we’re prepared. And, we’re anticipating more precipitation, it’s just a matter of how much and what form,” Parr says.
Regardless of whether it’s snow, ice or rain, the roads are going to be slick Tuesday night, Parr says, as the temperature drops.
The Tazewell County Highway Department reminds drivers to give the plows plenty of room on the road, and to give themselves extra time to get where they need to be during the storm.
