UPDATED 4:52 P.M.
The clearing of residential streets in Peoria is underway.
Peoria Public Works Deputy Director Sie Maroon says a break in snowfall Tuesday afternoon allowed crews to start plowing and treating residential streets at around 1:30 P.M.
Work will continue throughout the evening to clear those roads.
Maroon says main streets remain wet and very drivable while residential roads are wet, slushy, and passable.
Around-the-clock work will continue as Peoria Snowfighters will contend with more snow, increased winds, and below freezing temperatures tonight.
Maroon is also urging motorists to take more time and put extra distance between vehicles during evening and morning commutes.
