PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Salvation Army’s Tree of Lights campaign is nearing its end.
The campaign started on November 1st with a goal of raising $2.2 million by the end of January.
Campaign Chair Jen Klobnak tells W-M-B-D’s “Greg and Dan” the amount raised fills a gap of what is not covered by state funding and grants.
She says it also helps cover an increased demand for services at the Salvation Army.
“We continue to have more clients, which is not a good thing, but it means that there is a growing need,” Klobnak said.
Klobnak says some of those costs also cover staffing for the organization and utilities for those in need.
Klobnak says the goal has not been hit yet, but there’s still time to contribute. She says that can be done by calling the Salvation Army or by donating on their website.
