LINCOLN, Ill. — The National Weather Service in Lincoln says bitter cold conditions will continue through much of this week.
Wind chills will again fall to -25 to -30 Monday night into Tuesday morning and to around -15 or colder Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.
The NWS says a brief respite from the extreme cold will take place Wednesday into Thursday, then extreme cold conditions return again from Thursday night through Saturday, with wind chills likely returning to -20 to -30 overnight Friday night into Saturday morning.
Light snow is possible Wednesday night through Thursday night.
Warming centers have been opened in Peoria, East Peoria and Pekin for those needing to get out of the extreme cold.
