MACKINAW, Ill. – All four people involved in a murder-for-hire plot in Mackinaw in October of 2021 have all pleaded guilty at a review hearing Tuesday for their roles in it.
The plot led to the shooting death of Rebecca Bolin in her Mackinaw home, while her husband, Douglas, survived the shooting with serious injuries.
The ringleader of the plot was their daughter. Dahlia Bolin, 17, pleaded guilty to counts of murder, attempted first-degree murder, and solicitation of murder for hire. She was sentenced to 60 years in prison, with credit for time served.
Prosecutors in their statements say Bolin originally plotted to have her father killed, and then her mother. The plot was planned out in electronic communication and phone calls. Bolin had also planned to pay the three involved in the plot $100,000 out of her parents’ life insurance, along with guns.
One of the gunmen, Nathaniel Maloney, 20, pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit murder. He was sentenced to 66 years in prison. The other, Andre Street, 19, pleaded guilty to the same counts and received a prison sentence of 55 years.
Maloney and Street entered through the home’s basement, then went upstairs and shot Rebecca and Douglas from behind as they sat on the couch, and fled. They were to rough up Dahlia to make it look like a robbery. Dahlia had reportedly disabled the Wi-Fi in the house in order to prevent surveillance cameras from recording.
The getaway driver, Sage Raeuber, 21, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit murder. Raeuber was sentenced to 30 years in prison, but could be released in 25 years. Raeuber reportedly drove the shooters to the Bolin’s house on the night of the shooting, and the night prior.

Nathaniel Maloney, 20, pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit murder. He was sentenced to 66 years in prison.
They were involved in a plot that led to the death of Rebecca Bolin in her home after being shot several times. Her husband, Douglas Bolin, was shot and seriously wounded, but survived. Rebecca and Douglas Bolin are the parents of Dahlia Bolin.
As part of Dahlia’s plea deal, counts of first-degree murder and a solicitation of murder were dropped. She, along with Maloney, also agreed to testify in any court proceedings related to or connected to anyone charged in the case now or in the future.
Andre Street, 18, of Groveland and Sage Raeuber, 21, of Morton, have also been charged in the case.
Maloney was one of the shooters in the incident, while Street is alleged to be the other shooter. Raeuber is charged as the alleged driver.
Prosecutors stated during the hearing that Dahlia Bolin sought them out to initially kill her father, as she was having troubles with him. Dahlia would have paid them $100,000 out of her parents’ life insurance plan, along with giving them guns, in return for the shootings.
Street and Maloney were to rough up Dahlia to make it look like a robbery. The plan changed at one point to kill Rebecca Bolin as well.
Dahlia had reportedly disabled the Wi-Fi in the house in order to prevent surveillance cameras from recording.
Maloney and Street entered through the home’s basement, then went upstairs and shot Rebecca and Douglas from behind as they sat on the couch, and fled.
Maloney, Street, and Raeuber were arrested the next day.
