MAPLETON, Ill. – A Canton man has been arrested for the suspected armed robbery of a Mapleton gas station late last week.
Surveillance video Friday night showed a man with a gun demanding money from an employee at the BP station on W. Wheeler Road, near Highway 24.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says 32-year-old Kinneth Chipman was taken into custody around 3 p.m. Tuesday at a gas station in Canton.
Police say the employee was not injured, and the suspect ran off with some cash.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and Canton Police helped Peoria County detectives identify Chipman as the suspect.
Chipman is being held in the Peoria County Jail on armed robbery charges.
