PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria’s main roads for the most part are in good shape as of 8 a.m. Friday morning.
Peoria Public Works’ Nick McMillion says the Snowfighters are moving into the residential areas Friday morning to plow and treat the streets before below-zero temperatures return Friday night and into the weekend.
McMillions suggests drivers use extra caution as some roads may still be partially snow-covered and slick in spots.
Peoria Snowfighters remain on 12-hour, around-the-clock operations, until further notice.
Road conditions are expected to improve throughout the day on Friday.
PEORIA, Ill. – As of 4:30 a.m. Friday, Peoria Public Works reports the City’s main, arterial routes are in good condition and very drivable.
Drivers are reminded to use extra caution on Friday morning’s commute, as some roads may still be partially snow-covered and slick in spots.
Public Works’ Nick McMillion says drivers should be mindful when approaching intersections on both the main routes and residential streets. Remember to give yourself more stopping distance than usual, take it slow and give yourself extra time to get where you’re going.
Peoria Snowfighters remain on 12-hour, around-the-clock operations, until further notice. Crews will continue to plow and treat the arterial streets Friday morning. Road conditions will continue to improve throughout the day.
Snow looks to be out of the picture for the rest of Friday and the weekend. Temperatures Friday will hover in the single digits before falling below zero overnight.
Wind chills will be dangerously cold over the next few days. Refreezes and drifting snow remain a possibility throughout the day Friday.
