CANTON, Ill. – One person is dead after what turned out to be a daylong standoff Tuesday in Fulton County.
25 News reports Canton Police were attempting to serve search and arrest warrants when the standoff began near Cass Place and North Avenue F.
It was in relation to a domestic incident that was reported Sunday.
A man now identified as Richard Wilkerson, 63, police say, was found in the home’s basement.
Officials say there were no signs of foul play on Wilkerson. An investigation into the death is continuing.
The home itself had at least some damage when police are believed to have used a battering vehicle.
