WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Joe Biden is facing pushback from Texas for his southern border policy.
The Biden administration gave Texas a deadline of Friday to allow federal agents back into a 2.5 mile stretch of border property, after Gov. Greg Abbott seized Shelby Park in Eagle Pass and kicked out the feds two weeks ago.
According to Fox News, in a letter to the state of Texas on Wednesday, The Department of Homeland Security warns it wants “full access” to the park – and if not, the U.S. asked Texas to make clear what portions of the park it plans on denying access.
Gov. Abbott so far has not complied with the Biden administration’s deadlines, and in a new letter he says the president is derelict of duty.
The Supreme Court recently ruled that the federal government can remove razor wire installed on the border with Mexico by Texas.
The feud between the White House and Gov. Abbott also comes as House Republicans are looking to impeach D-H-S Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his handling of the migrant surge at the southern border.
Customs and Border Protection says on average, more than 800 people a day have illegally crossed the border with Mexico and disappeared in the U.S. since October 1, 2023.
